What is the virtues of Qiyaam (prayer at night) during Ramadan ? Praise be to Allah. Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to encourage us to pray at night in Ramadan, without making it obligatory. Muslims are encouraged to engage in both obligatory (Fard) and non-obligatory (Nafilah) prayers throughout the month, with a particular emphasis on Taraweeh prayers during the nights of Ramadan. Here’s everything you need to know about how to pray it, whether alone or in congregation. One of the most popular ibadah (worship) traditions that are performed in Ramadan are the nightly tarawih prayers – usually done in congregation at the masjid, led by the imam. One of the most important practices to perform during this holy month is Qiyam-ul-Layl, which means standing in prayer at night. These prayers strengthen our relationship with Allah (SWT), purify our souls, and offer us a path to spiritual renewal. َQiyam-ul-Layl or optional night prayer, also known as taraweeh and tahjjud, is one of the best ways to maximize your gains in Ramadan. The merits of this special worship are numerous. It is praised in various Quranic verses and Hadiths. The nights of Ramadan are a perfect opportunity to develop the habit of observing Qiyam-ul-Layl. Night prayer is the diligence of the righteous, the transaction of the believers, and the action of the victorious. At night the believers are alone with their Lord - they turn towards their Creator complaining about their situations and asking of His bounties. Verily, all praise is due to Allaah. We praise Him, we seek His assistance and we ask Him for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allaah from the evils of our selves and the evils of our actions. Whoever Allaah guides, no one that can lead him astray, and whoever is led astray, no one can guide him. The Prophet of Allah said: "Whoever performs Qiyam at night [throughout the whole month of Ramadan] out of sincere faith and certainty of getting rewarded by Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven." During the month of Ramadan, Muslims conduct special prayers each night, called taraweeh, during which long portions of the Quran are recited. The Spiritual Importance of the First Night of Ramadan. The first night of Ramadan has great spiritual significance since it ushers in one of the most sacred months in the Islamic calendar. This is an explanation: 1. The Gateway to Mercy and Blessings. It is a time of joy, gratitude, and family gatherings. How Can I Make the Most of Ramadan? It is prescribed for the Muslim to perform Tarawih prayer after ‘Isha on the first night of Ramadan, which is the night on which the new moon is sighted or the Muslims complete thirty days of Sha`ban. Common Prayers of Every Night of Ramadan. According to Mafatih al-jinan, [1] it is recommended to say two rak'as of prayers every night in the month of Ramadan. In each rak'a of this prayer, Sura al-Hamd should be recited once and then Sura al-Tawhid should be recited three times. When the prayer ends, the following should be recited: The first night of Ramadan 2025 is expected to fall on Friday, 28th of February 2025, and will end at sundown on Sunday, the 30th of March 2025, depending upon the sighting of the moon. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Fast upon sighting the crescent moon, and end the fast upon its sighting. Praying the night of Ramadan includes praying the beginning of the night and the end, according to that Taraweeh is from the night prayer of Ramadan. Therefore we have to be keen on it and care for it, and seek reward and good deeds from Allah for doing it, where it is only few nights, the sane believer should take advantage of it before it Verily, Ramadan is a month in which Allah Almighty has obligated its fasting. I have instituted for Muslims the practice of prayer at night. Thus, whoever fasts it with faith and expecting reward will be rid of sins like the day he was born from his mother.
