ഹിജ്റ വർഷത്തിലെ ശ‌അബാനിന്റെയും ശവ്വാലിന്റെയും ഇടയിലുള്ള മാസമാണ് റംസാൻ . റമദാൻ മാസത്തിലാണ് ഖുറാനിലെ ആദ്യ സൂക്തങ്ങൾ അല്ലാഹു അവതരിപ്പിച്ചതെന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം. വിശുദ്ധ ഖുറാൻ ഉണ്ടാക്കപ്പെട്ട മാസമാണ് റംസാൻ അഥവാ റമദാൻ. മുഹമ്മദ് നബിയ്ക്ക് പ്രവാചകത്വം ലഭിച്ച മാസം കൂടിയാണ് ഇത്. ഒരു മാസം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന കഠിനമായ വ്രതാനുഷ്ഠാനം റംസാന്റെ ഭാഗമായുള്ളതാണ്. ഹിജ്റ വര്‍ഷത്തിലെ ശ‌അബാനിന്റെയും ശവ്വാലിന്റെയും ഇടയിലുള്ള മാസമാണ് റംസാൻ (റമദാൻ). പരിശുദ്ധ ഖുർആൻ അവതരിച്ച മാസത്തിൽ എല്ലാ വിശ്വാസികള്‍ക്കും നോമ്പ് നിര്‍ബന്ധമാണ്. ഇസ്ലാമിക വിശ്വാസികളിൽ ആത്മീയാനന്ദത്തിൻ്റെ ആഹ്ലാദാരവങ്ങളുമായി പുണ്യങ്ങളുടെ പൂക്കാലമായ അനുഗ്രഹീതമാസം വന്നെത്തി. ക്ഷമയുടെ മാസമാണ് റമദാന്‍. ക്ഷമയുടെ പ്രതിഫലം സ്വര്‍ഗം തന്നെയാണ്.
