Lakemba Nights, formerly known as Ramadan Night Markets, is back from February 27 to March 30. The street food festival brings in around 60 stalls and vendors serving Middle Eastern and Asian food. Don’t make my mistake and take public transport instead. Ramadan Nights began as a modest barbecue stand in Lakemba and over the years has blossomed into what is probably Sydney’s most popular food festival. Full of ethnic food stalls largely run by and for Muslims, the night market runs from dusk (usually after iftar , the evening meal Muslims eat when they break their fast) until 3am *every day The buzzing Ramadan Nights market in Sydney's Lakemba is in full swing and there is plenty to enjoy and learn about from the stallholders along the way. the local community and what this Usually for Ramadan nights we are bundled up in jumpers and coats but this year it's positively balmy as it is held from the 9th of March to the 8th of April. The Ramadan night markets are on every Thursday to Sunday from 6pm-3am (the stalls are also open from Monday to Wednesday for the local community). Laura and I arrive on a Sunday night.
