Ramaḍân is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the decisive authority. So whoever is present this month, let them fast. But whoever is ill or on a journey, then ˹let them fast˺ an equal number of days ˹after Ramaḍân˺. Read Surah Baqarah Ayat 185 (2:185) with translation. Learn about these ayats in both Arabic and English. 2/Al-Baqarah-185: The month of Ramadan in which the Qur’ân was sent down as a Guidance (a means of reaching Allah, Hidayet) to men and clear proofs of the Guidance and the Discernment (Criterion between right and wrong) by Huda (Allah). شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِيَ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِّنَ الْهُدَى وَالْفُرْقَانِ فَمَن شَهِدَ مِنكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ وَمَن كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ يُرِيدُ اللّهُ بِكُمُ الْيُسْرَ وَلاَ يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ الْعُسْرَ وَلِتُكْمِلُواْ الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُواْ اللّهَ عَلَى م Here are the primary verses related to Ramadan and fasting: 1. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183) – Obligation of Fasting. 2. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:184) – Flexibility in Fasting. 3. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:185) – The Month of Ramadan and Revelation of the Quran. 4. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:186) – Allah’s Nearness in Ramadan. 5. The phrase shahru ramadan occurs in the Quran only once, in 2:1851. In our study Siyam is not fasting, but self-control through Quran study, we observed that the popular verses on siyam (2:183-187) are not about fasting but are about pause for reflection, i.e., abstinence from unsettling thoughts through contemplating over divine messages. It should he noted here that fasting in Ramadan has not only been declared an act of worship and devotion and a means to nourish piety but has also been characterized as an act of gratefulness to God for His great bounty of true guidance in the form of the Qur'an. شَهْرُ رَمَضَان month of Ramadan appears in verse 2:185. The word ramadan, as explained in the previous post, is an intensified or heightened internal friction, clash, cognitive dissonance, resulting in unease, division, disharmony. Human nature strives for harmony, consistency, and balance. شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِیْۤ اُنْزِلَ فِیْهِ الْقُرْاٰنُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَ بَیِّنٰتٍ مِّنَ الْهُدٰى وَ الْفُرْقَانِۚ-فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْیَصُمْهُؕ-وَ مَنْ كَانَ مَرِیْضًا اَوْ عَلٰى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ اَیَّامٍ اُخَرَؕ-یُرِیْدُ اللّٰهُ بِكُمُ الْیُسْرَ وَ لَا یُرِیْدُ بِكُمُ الْعُسْرَ٘-وَ لِتُكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَ لِتُكَبِّر The Holy Qur`an loves Ramadan and Ramadan loves the Holy Qur`an; they are beloved friends.
